Ilford Pricing 2011
Due to increasing raw material costs Ilford have had to increase prices a number of times recently. In particular, it is the price of SILVER which has caused the biggest problem as recently it touched $50 per ounce as a result of speculation on the futures markets in a time when other investments (stocks and shares for example) are seen as more risky.
However, regardless of this, we think Ilford products represent excellent value for money for three reasons:
1. Supreme quality. Ilford have 16 people employed in quality control. They currently have no outstanding quality control issues worldwide.
2. Range. No other manufacturer offers the incredible range of black and white products. Further to this Ilford have committed to maintaining this range and not discontinuing any products.
3. Reliability. No other manufacturer can offer the reliability of supply. Ilford hold massive stocks in their ultra efficient warehouse. Further to this they hold stock of master rolls of film and paper so they can quickly convert (cut and pack) on demand if stock of finished products run low.
Maintaining such a wide range, incredible reliability and quality in a specialist market is costly and the price has to reflect it.
