Process
Ilfochrome requires a 3 bath process, in this order: Developer; Bleach; Fix.
For the amateur, fine art worker and low volume professional, chemistry is available in a convenient kit, the P30, which makes 2L of working solution. Alternatively, chemistry is available in large lab sizes as the P3 or P3X process - both these processes deliver the same result, but the P3 at 30 degrees and the P3X at 35 degrees. P3X is the more modern process and anyone looking to set up a lab facility should choose a processor designed for this process.
Once mixed up with water, the working solution has about an 8 week window for use, after which it needs to be discarded due to oxidisation. This is on the basis it is stored in tightly capped full containers when not in use.
Processing may be performed, in it's most basic form, in something as simple as a drum, such as the Jobo drums or similar which are readily available on the second hand market. Alternatively there are several small processors which are also available which will maintain temperature thermostatically and are very compact. It is important that processors are compatible with the Ilfochrrome process. In particular, the bleach bath will dissolve metal screws etc which are not made either or titanium or very high grade stainless steel. Compatible processors include:
NOVA Trimate. Made in the UK, the Trimate is part of the famous range of Nova Slot Processors. Ideal where space is at a premium. Available from Ag Photographic, the Trimate has 3 thermostatically controlled baths and is available in both 12x16" and 16x20" sizes:

Durst Printo. Readily available on the secondhand market with good parts back up. This is a superbly designed processor which will accept paper up to 12" wide so you can easily process a 12x16" print. The capacity of each bath is 2.5L so if using the P30 kit you would require two kits with the remaining 1.5L for replenishment. Alternatively the Pro packs could be used. It is of a modular design and thus you will require minimum of 3 thermostatically controlled modules (as in the photo) for Ilfochrome process, plus you always need the Intro unit:

The Durst Printo may also be used for black and white and RA4 (paper for printing from colour neg.)
Other compatible processors include the ICP42 and the CAP40, which work with 2L baths. There are others, this is not a complete list, but these are the popular models.
