The Adox/Paterson Universal enlarger is a budget condenser type enlarger at an incredible price. Complete with glassless negative masks for both 35mm and 6x6cm negatives, this is a superb choice for personal use, especially those looking to start making their first prints.
The Enlarger is supplied complete with a plug and a switch on the cable for completely manual operation, however for ease of use we strongly recommend the use of a timer such as the Paterson Digital enlarger timer 2000D (timers will allow the enlarger to be plugged directly into them for complete control of exposure time). If you require a lens choose the standard Paterson 50mm or 75mm lenses depending on which which size negatives you will be enlarging (50mm for 35mm and 75mm for 120 film 6x6cm/6x4.5cm). There is also the option of the Paterson Multigrade Filters for varying the contrast with multigrade variable contrast paper. These filters are placed into the filter drawer in the enlarger and allow complete contrast control.
Note: virtually all B&W paper available today is of multigrade type and without filters the paper will print as only a grade 2 paper - which, unless you have perfectly exposed negatives, is very inconvenient! Therefore, we recommend the filter set as an essential accessory and they will allow grades from 00-5 to be obtained from the paper.
